THe early 4000 was a hundred series derivative, and looked very much like a jubilee.4 cylinder 172 cid, avail in gas or diesel, as I understand.Made until the early 60's, maybe '63 or 4. The 3 cylinder 4000 was a much larger tractor physically, and looked like a 3000 on wheaties. All the same sheet metal as a 3000, but transmission and rear end were beefier. I think one could get a selectospeed in all of 'em. A very unique transmission and not recommended for the novice mechanic.Around here even a good working SOS is good for a 30-50 percent price cut.A non working SOS makes a tractor only a parts tractor and worth a whole lot less, to most. There are those who absolutely swear by a good SOS, and have excellent luck with properly adjusted and maintained ones.THe later ones are said to be more reliable and have most of the kinks worked out of them.
