If the rings were all that bad the plugs should have oil around them and be fouled, personnely I have never seen bad rings get that much gas in the oil.I don't know what State you are in, but I think legally you have to go back to the person you bought it from,also did the bill of sale say anything to the effect " as is ". If the person you bought it from is to warrant it, then don't let no one else turn a tap on it ,you could void warranty if he is so mind too.
