In some municipalities/counties some public service jobs are for "fence viewer". This guy's job is to settle disputes and as an advisor on putting up fences. He gets a small fee for his services but it's not much. If this is your case have him come over before you strike off the line and tell him your plan. He'll give you some pointers. I did the same thing cept my fence line was all grown in with briars. So I ran a line 80ft out from each corner stake. That brought me out in my hay field. It was a 640ft stretch so I can site rite down to the end. I then sited along a line of T rails I painted neon yellow. When I was done with that I measured in 80ft in from every post to give me my property line. I figure the degree of error is about 5inches which is good enough for me and I doubt the county will spend court costs for 5inches.
