I would suggest that you leave the '37 B original because cobbing up a nice antique seems almost sinful and not very practical either. Sell it to someone who appreciates it the way it is, and get yourself a 520 or 530; it looks similar, sounds the same (pop, pop, pop), and will have all the improvement you are seeking.
