Bypass the switch. Run a wire from the + battery post to the + coil terminal. REcheck the .010 gap.
The - coil terminal goes the the distributor.
Don't leave the hot wire connected for more than a few seconds. Do they require a ballast resistor?
Crank it over a few times to check for spark.
