I just had a 5/8 pond dug and it cost $12500,that included replacing all the top soil around my yard and the stone, beach sand, water line to house, and it is 20ft deep. They used a big bud tractor with scraper mostly then a D6 to shape it. Now if you are planing to rent equipment to do this you better hope for dry wheather when you are digging because its going to cost you.A rubber tire back hoe is going to cost you about 150 a day to rent.God only knows what a 235 cat is going to run you, even if any1 would rent it to you.I would seriously think of paying someone, that way if it leaks they can fix it. And if you pay someone they will dig it about 20 ft deep,12ft is not deep enough,in a dry year you could lose a 1/4 of you water.

I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
