Yep, I'm an old case man who goes back a while. I'm old enough to remember when the VA, LA, DC,SC and their varients were shiney new tractors. The day Tenneco took over and retired old abe (that's equivilent to Deere retiring their leaping deer), dropped their machinery line, and changed to the new look of the Case name, a big part of me died. Tenneco bought DB and stopped production of the 430 and 530. That was unforgivable. Why didn't they make improvements on them. They even had the audacity to go the the DB white and drop the Dessert Tan. How dare they. Had to repaint my truck!!! Then Case (actualy Tenneco) bought the harvester works and became CASE IH. Hey, Ih had been a good company at one time but a little more died when the case name was "adultirated" with IH.

Tenneco then spun off Case Corp and they became vulnerable to a take over and in came Fiat. I still have a pulse and am respirating, but you have to lean down close to detect my breathing.

Yeah, I got a chip on my shoulder because my guy ain't what he used to be. I don't even mind you Deere guys making hay on your unchanging name. That's fair enough.

HOWEVER, Give us an acurate time line for Deere. They have broadened and expanded to a full line co. exactly the same as the rest of them did. Maybe more so thatn case. They didn't even develope their own tractor for crying out loud. JD did develop the steel plow though, unless you read case's history and even that is subject to debate. Now, Deere is still Deere, and they bought out, not merged with and that is different, however, how many things did they buy instead of invent or develope. Didn't Waterloo already have development of the D well under way when Deere bought it. I challange you to find an accurate time line of Deere and post it here for us to see. How big would they be if they had to develope on their own everything on the market today.

Competition is good for all of us. If there was none we'd all be driving D JD'S Ford T models. Don't know about you but i like my air conditioned truck. By the way, it's a Dodge so I'm getting a double whammy on these mergers. Let's just be honest and tell the whole story.

Please don't unplug my respirator yet. I could recover and live to drive again.
