The model L tractors made between 8-15-1938 to 7-9-1946 serial #625000 to 642038 were on the rear axle. This location made the serial plate suseptible to damage and loss. Alot of model L's have their plates missing. Without the serial plate, there isn't much any way to nail down a build date. Also these little tractors were made at the Moline Wagon Works, as when tractor production was halted there and personnel, machinery was shipped to Dubuque to produce the M models, the build records of the L's were lost. This is what I have come to understand.
