What's better: Calcium Cloride, Wheel Weights, Or??

After reading the posting below about how bad calcium cloride is for tractor wheels and knowing that I have a damaged (and leaking) wheel on my 1948 Massey Harris Model 20 that I have to deal with this spring, I ask: What is a better filler for the wheels? Do wheel weights accomplish the same thing? I use my tractor to launch a boat on a beach with soft sand. Thanks for the comments.
