You mean the New Holland self-loading bale wagons? They have 2 general sizes, about 60 bales, & about 100 bales. I'd think 40 hp would be plenty for the smaller size, but you would run all day.... The bigger one's I've seen run with a big heavy 40 hp tractor, but the problem becomes hydraulics as well - at least some models of those things need a pretty good hydraulic source for the pickup chain. The problem with a 100 hp or big tractor is you are compacting the alfalfa ground more.... How do you win? :) I guess I see most forls run with a 60-100 hp tractor on them. --->Paul
