i drive a semi for a living an restore antique tractors for a hobby an travel all over with them. i have talked with the DOT several times about this, an what i have been told is to do what the sign says. IF it says over a certain weighted that is what it means. If it says commmercial vehicle then unless you are doin it for a living then no. If in dought then stop. Passing a open scale when you are supposed to stop is a moving violation. Just like running a stop sign. And if they come after you, you can bet you will get the ticket. They dont mess around. Remember this is a hobby an you are not a commercial vehicle. If you dont it for a living an am hauling the trator, it is a commercial vechicle. Also remember to have the correct weight of plates on your pickup. It has to equal the total wieght of the pickup an trailer an load. And your tires have to be abale to carry that amount. Then you need to check with you insurance an see what they cover. there is alot to this hauling of tractors. its cheaper to check first then to find out your wrong later
