Depends, what are you going to do with it? having had both a super MD and a super88 my preference would be the S88 if working (using), or driving the tractor in road gear in hilly areas. IH's would fly in road gear, but if you got a strong headwind, that next gear down was a big step. The S88 always seemed to have the right field gear, the IH seemed to be either to slow or to fast. But to each his own on that. Was hard to get everything syncronized on the IH for starting and often killed both motors trying to start it. Gas pony motor would start in the cold though, that can be a plus.
