Dave the pinion shims will move the tooth pattern. I you add shims the contact will move down to the tip on one side and up away from the tip on the other. If you remove shims the pattern will go the other way. I suggest you start with the shims you have and see how it looks. Always remember or record (draw picture) what you have, then compare to what you get after you change things. If you know where you came from then you know where you are going. That said back lash will affect the length of the contact pattern. I had hoped you where in south central ONT. and I could have dropped by. I'm sure you will get it now. Get some of the BLUE I said.
