i have had 4 diffrentypes over the past 30 year,s.2 cub-cadet,s 1- john deere, 2 craftsman, 1 simplicity.i wpould rate as the best overaul mower cutting machine the simplicity it was a 3414 hydro state new in 1971 and still running strong today, it has a snow blower ans a roto tiller for it.forget the snow blower and get one with a blade and a set of chaines onless you want to take a shower evry time you snow blow and it,s cold.the john deere i would rate the worse it was a little 70 about a 1971,it broke a axel shaft about 20 years ago and still set,s in the barn,it had a tecumses motor and was allways broke down--starter-flywheel-gearshifter-rear wheel hub,s-the wiring system and was a belt drive no problem with belt slipping but all the pullies wore out.the 2 craftsman one was a hydro state and 38 in cut nice little machine but built very lite so you use it with some care--mower deck was junk rebuilt it 2 times in 5 years.ht eother chraftsmann is a 6 speed and i only use it to push snow, you can rotate the blade setting on the seat.it,s only 6 years old so i cant say how long it will last buit it also is a very light machine.now sear,s tractor,s that are painted red there 2 top ones are built for them by Husquvarna and is a very old and great company i have not used one, but will be my next buy.if you buy a massy fergeson it is a simplicity with red paint.now one of my cub cadet,s is a old stick 3 speed about 1965 the mower deck is long gone but i use it for towing my wagones now --built like brick sh--t house they use the same rear end and trans mission in them ase the full size cub-farmall tractor, the older ones had poor cutting mower deck,s those that were built up to about early 70,s. the other one is a hydro 129 and is my favorite operating machine if it get,s traction it will move any thing, the mower deck is fair i think it,s about a 1969 replaced the motor once but never been into the hydro state or rear end and in the summer i cut like about 4 aker,s every week with it,the handies machine i have ever run. hope this help,s, also the scott,s machine is built by john deere.

When Push Comes to Shove - by Dave Patterson. When I was a “kid” (still am to a deree) about two I guess, my parents couldn’t find me one day. They were horrified (we lived by the railroad), my mother thought the worst: "He’s been run over by a train, he’s gone forever!" Where did they find me? Perched up on the seat of the tractor. I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par
