Yes, Cub Cadet was purchased by MTD in 1981. MTD did start putting "Cub Cadet by MTD" on them, but it raised a stink and MTD stopped doing it. Now if they'd just get rid of that weed next to the Cub Cadet name. ;-) A friend of mine has a Cub he bought new in 1994. He likes it. His only problem has been an intermittent charging problem that the dealer says doesn't exist. The service from that dealer really sucks. I've tried to buy parts for my 1980 Cub from the same dealer, and he really couldn't care less about my older Cub. What a jerk!! My money now goes elsewhere. Make sure the Cub dealer has a good service department.
