wild times dude. left the key on, energized the feild winding in the generator, poor thing was trying to start that big engine, and couldnt, bet its baked to a delicate crunch inside. sounds like no ballast resistor on the points wiring, the points probably glowed like a lightbulb. and you can bet those power leads smoked all the way from the battery to the switch, and back to the regulator, and coil, so you need a pretty large pile of new parts/cash to ride on that heifer again. lets see.. voltage regulator, generator, wiring harness, distributor cap, rotor, spacer plate, points, condensor, ballast resistor, points wire case insulator, possible ignition switch, in all i can only say.. Glad it wasnt my tractor. sorry
