There's a lot of great reading in this thread. I'm kind of amazed by the number of Farmalls mentioned. But I guess it makes sense when you look at the production numbers of various brands 40 and 50 years ago. Bill, you've got a few years on me, I was a first timer in '56 or '57. My first machine was a Farmall H, too. Either my Dad or Grand Dad would stick it in first gear, let out the clutch, jump outta the way, then point me toward the Holsteins. First gear was about the right speed to bring in a herd of cows that were real heavy with milk, and about the right speed for a kid my age. I guess I wasn't much more use than a Border Collie at first, but in a year or so, I could do some more productive things on that old H. Thanks for some good memories. Steve
