The voltage stabilizer on these proofmeter units is often the cause of temp and fuel gauge inoperation or faulty readings. This part is mounted on the back of the proofmeter and supplies about 9 volts to the two gauges. I don't recall if the temp gauge itself is replaceable on the older metal proofmeter found on the thousand series. It is on the 10 and 30 series, maybe I am confusing the 2 styles. Still I am not familiar with Basildon built thousand series tractors without a temp gauge. Maybe they were built for European markets rather than the Basildon built tractors configured for the North American market? I own a Basildon- built 1974 4000 gasser that has a temp gauge, and work on Fords and NH for a living, but I haven't seen it all yet, I guess!
