Franz is a bypass add on type filter and I had no room to install same. Still need to replace the full flow filter at some interval. Some trucks now offer longer warranties when using synthetic oils. Used a bypass type in an 85 Omni and changed when the lab said it was time. Went 47,000 miles on the first change and 67,000 on the second. Sold vehicle shortly after second change but removed the bypass and told the new owner to change (with the oil I gave him with the car) at 139,000 miles but he rolled it a couple of months later.
