Funny really, isn't it? Two wheel drive only drives through one? wheel (at a time) unless you have a diff lock applied, and some 4 wheel drives - the road 'AWDs' - may only be driving through one wheel..... Of course this is more noticeable when you are stuck in mud with only one wheel spinning! The only true all wheel drives, I suspect, are those with a locking centre differential and diff locks on both axles, or a drive train comparable to this. Here in Britain tractors are designated as 2 or 4 wheel drive simply depending on whether or not the front wheels can be driven. Just my 2p worth, RAB
