My dad ran these filters for quite a few years on several tractors and vehicles. He did not use them to prolong the oil change intervals. When we would change the paper element it was interesting to see the tiny peices of metal that were in the filter. We never had any problems other than the fact that we couldn't find a toilet paper roll that would fit so we quit using them in the mid 1970's. There was a company in Tracy Mn. that in the late 60's had a paper element made that he got ok'ed by the FAA so that you could install the Frantz filter legally on aircraft. I found this out about 6yrs. ago and have been buying filters for my 6.2 diesel ever since from the new old stock that he still has.
