Basically, it means that the wheels are meant to be able to pass between the rows of a row crop, corn rows for example. Narrow front, weather single or double wheels, will pass between the two rows, wide front will be able to do the same, but will need to be ajustable, to pass between various row spacings. Row-crop tractors will have ajustable rear wheels for the same reasons. Standard tractors and Utility tractors usally have non-ajustable axles.
