My manual says use the same oil in the oil bath as the crankcase -- like wrenchman's. Filtering it will a paper towel would be a good idea, too. BUT The manual says run 30w in the crankcase. If you're using a 10-30w or a 20-40w or any multi viscosity oil in the crankcase you could have a problem when it gets chilly and the multi weight oil thins out. Thin oil is more easily sucked into the carb and combustion chamber. Not a good idea unless the machine say Lawn Boy on the side. I think most oil baths were designed to run 30 weight oil to keep your 4 stroke tractor from being fed like a 2 stroke machine. hope that's good for 2 cents worth. Steve
