Well the idea sounds good but what would you do to slow down things. You would need at least a 3 to one reduction to get the finished tractor to run slow enough to be considered a usefull tractor, more if you put big wheels and tires on it. You could use an old transporter transaxle, they had reduction gears on the outside ends sort of like some tractors, the ratio was only about 1.25 to 1 though. It would help and this would raise the engine some too as the reduction gear was set so it raised the axle several inches, this is why the old transporters ( buses) were higher.
