Raised as a rancher so farming is not really in my blood. Worked as a hired hand coming up and excelled in FFA. Spoke once at a state convention about the vanishing family farmer and the risks involved with corporate farms. As an adult I run some acreage with planted pines. Best row crop I got going. Been trying for 2 yrs. to get a 20 acre U-pick operation off the ground. I am fair at the ground work prep and not really proficient at planting yet. Weather gods and my family have been having their chuckles too. I use my old equipment as tools primarily to get chores done and to work my pines. Also great therapy, er hobby for me. It is HUMBLING to say the least just to be working the ground and equipment. This fall plan on adding some Tilapia to the fish pond for another source of groceries. It's a good thing I also have a day job lest my family not eat. GOD bless those that put food on our tables!! I put enough up just for our use and my neighbors. If full time farming were left up to me we would be eating pine trees . . .like Euelle Gibbons and co. :) Still chuggin in the weeds. . . ShepFL
