Over Running Coupler acts like a ratchet...turns one way with the PTO shaft and then freewheels when the pressure is taken off the shaft as in when you apply the clutch. Keeps high momentum implements like brush-hogs from driving back through the PTO shaft and tranny and pushing the tractor past where you want to stop. There are both ORCs that attach with a 'quick disconnect' and versions that are attached with cold rolled spring steel pins. Quick disconnect is pricey, but handy...
