What you are seeing is a common problem with some diesels - it's called "wet stacking" or "slobbering". It's unburned fuel (sometimes mixed with lube oil) wetting the exhaust manifold and exhaust stack during long periods of idling. Possible causes are engine running too cold (most common), worn rings, worn injectors, and extended periods of idling. A friend of mine has a JD 840 tractor/scraper that had the same problem. Replacing the thermostat helped, as did avoiding long periods of idling. He now shuts the motor down rather than letting it idle for more than a few minutes.
