Glad you got the bolts out.
Hammering on the breaker bar "is" doing the same thing an air impact is doing except, it puts a lot more "impact" (torque) on a bolt than an air ratchet, or even most 1/2" impact wrenches do.
Do you mean impact "wrench", when you say impact "ratchet"? Impact ratchets don't make much torque at all for stuborn bolts/nuts. Impact "wrenches" can make huge amounts of torque!
