Mary, a few things. Your 8N will serve you well but you must be willing to spend a little time with it. (It's a very rewarding experiance, don't be afraid to do a little Maint.). Make sure your battery cables are hooked up correctly. Neg. goes to your starter, Pos. goes to ground. This is opposite of today's vehicles. Replace your spark plugs. Check to see if your points are burned. (Black and pitted where they contact) How long had it been sitting before you started it he first time? What do you want to use if for? Replace the gear oil in your transmisson case. 80/90 weight will do fine. Read the posts in the 8n/2n/9n forum, then read the archives. You'll be amazed that someone else had already had and solved the same issue you have. Last but not least. Don't be afraid to keep asking questions here. These are the smartes tractor folks on the planet. (When I get stuck I head right to the archives)... Good luck, Skytown Mark.
