John Deere 2010

I was bush hogging with the tractor, let it dip down in a low spot and it got in the dirt. The tractor almost stalled but did not, however the bushhog (PTO) no longer works. With the tractor running the shift will engage but the PTO will not turn. I can turn the PTO by hand at any time. No loud noises, no pops. Can anyone help. Is this a major problem.
