I didn't think it was the starter itself for 2 reasons: 1. It was not locked up at all. I could turn it easily by hand, and the gear went in & out easily as well. 2. It worked fine on the bench just attached to a battery - Gear extended and it spun well. It turned out to be the + battery connection! I noticed it was a little corroded looking, and I knew I was going to have to start tracing wires, so why not start with this one. I removed the post connector, removed the wire, cut the corroded part off, and reattached. She spun the motor over like a top! This DEFINITELY did not agree with the symptoms I described below - Like why was the WHOLE electrical system shorted out because of a corroded battery cable?
Anyway, it "appears" to be fixed now, so I am declaring victory. Thanks for all the advice, however. It is appreciated. Tommy D.
