I've also used both, but the biggest difference is going to be whether or not the land is level. On flat ground like we have here in E. TX, either one is fine. If you have the least bit of slope, the wide front is a LOT better. I get puckered up just mowing the ditch in front of my house with my JD 50, but using the little Ford I can mow pool dams all day. I much prefer the JD, but it scares me on any kind of a hill. The problem is this: If you have a hill, you need to plow ACROSS it to keep it from washing when it rains. The wide front lets you do that. Using a narrow front end on any kind of an incline is a very bad and dangerous idea. Not running in the furrow is no big deal, you need to be watching the plow anyway, but once you get it set up to match the tractor either one will work just fine. Just don't go to sleep!
