As already mentioned, body filler works well. Avoid cheap Bondo. Buy the good stuff. Body shops in your area can advise as to specific brands. I grind a "V" in the crack if the steel hub can be seen. Then I fill the bottom half of the crack with JB Weld and finish the top half with good body filler or fiberglas. The JBWeld will provide additional support against cracking and the body filler provides a surface that can be worked for painting. Sand smooth and paint with catalyzed urethane paint in whatever color you need. For light cracking, just grind a small "V" in the crack to allow the filler to adhere. We use this method on car steering wheels if not too badly cracked. If most of the rubber cover is missing or there are large chunks missing, replacement or professional restoration are about the only options. Good luck and all the best........Greg
