Just had one of those days when you should have stayed in bed. started out ok, got the haybine around for dad (His hip is wore out and needs to be replaced but can't get it done untill september. so being stubern he just keeps on working he is 73) to mow the second field this year. real late start because of all the rain. He got started so I called the wife to help me with some other things. Decided I might need the 1594 Case 4x4 that dad got stuck disking in the field we were going to put corn in so we went and got the JD 555 and a chain and went to the field and hooked on to the Case gave the wife a brief run down on the simple operation of the JD took all the slack out of the chain and told her to just ease up on the decelator pedal. We have used these chains for years and never broke one they were not cheap chains. When the wife took her foot off the decelator pedal I might as well had baler twine hooked to it. Next time with barly more than an idel it came right out. So then I thought I'll just go around the wet area to see if we can maybe get the corn in. well the wife got to pull me out again. gave up on that and maybe the corn this year. So I took the MF 375 tractor and teder to the field. When I got there and pushed in the clutch to shift down the trany locked up (less than 1000 hours on it) no warning, just like i set the brakes. it finaly gave loose but now makes a wining noise. its our the only tractor for our main work. The case is to big and bulkey and the allis WD is to small. I just know it isn't gona be good. We then started to bale and after we broke a couple shere pins foud the brake on the knoter was loose. about 150 bales later the the thrower belt gave way. Got new one hanging on the wall dismantled and put one end on and put that back together only to discover the belt was to short. So dads off 10 miles to the local NH dealer only to discover they sold out today on that belt. so I get the call to head the other direction 20 miles to a dealer who had one. got it fixed and then the neighbor came by and told us we had a calf in the pasture but the only heifer we had that was close was one we sent to the sale last week. we finly got done with 519 bales at 7;45. and the wife just broke a glass. I'm going to bed hope tommorw is better. Oh the WD ran flawless all day (thats diferent)
