I had a Deutz 40-06 for several years, and i always used 15W40 in the engine, hydraulic oil in the hydraulics, and 85W90 in the trans.. I've had (3) "o6" Series Deutz includeing the 30-06 i have now, and in their day, they were a great tractor! The only thing i didn't like about my 40-06 was Deutz didn't balance their (3) cyclinder engines very well those days and it vibrated as much as their (2) cyclinders!! When they went to the 45-06 they did several improvements over the 40. On my next hydraulic/trans. oil change on my Deutz, i'm filling both with CIH Hytran, and staying with the 15W40 in the engine.
