John Deere 730 Gears

As you all know,the gears on the right side of the pattern are the same as the gears on the left except reverse. My shift lever is on the right side, but the gears it goes in, are the gears of the left, ie, when you put it in 6th it's actually in 4th etc. and I can't seem to get it back to the left side.Whats wrong and How big of a problem do I have??????
