Most people concider refer to the 3pt hitch as the rockshafts (the lifting arms that you manually adjust to fit an implement's lift points through the hole in the rockshaft) and the top link (where the tilt of the implement is adjusted). Most fast hitches are made to fit onto a 3pt and they have hooks with snap closures on the back in the layout of the 3pt placement (one top center and 2 lower outside). The benifits of the fast hitch is that you won't be adjusting the rockshafts everytime to fit an implement on, you just back up to the implement and allow the hooks to grab the lift points. The disadvantage to the fast hitch (or fast 3 to some people) is that distance of the two lower outside lift points may be different that another implement. For exmple, the fast hitch I have works great when I go from my chisle plow to my grader blade, but my scoop bucket is too narrow for the fast hitch's outside hooks to grab.
