Bubba, I have a 712S also. I would think the 8 hp. would be underpowered in the 712. It originally had either a 12hp Kohler or Briggs and Straton. If you want to chat with folks who are friendly and knowledgeable on Simplicity and AC stroll over to the link provided. It's a member supported site dedicated to Simplicity and AC. Post any messages there and you will be helped. You may even find manuals or a place to download them. If not let me know and I'll email you the ones I have downloaded.
