I've restored one tractor (Earthmaster) and have about 3 others I've done some of the mechanical repairs that were needed, and would like to restore. From my limited experience I'd say I can't begin to do it for profit. I'm sure there are some people who do this for profit, but I suspect that they also did several of their own tractors without making any profit, before they were able to get to the point where they could do it profitably for others. I've been watching tractor prices for a few years now, and have seen several restored tractors sell for less than I think you would spend on restoring them. Of course, "restored" covers quite a wide range of work. Some I have seen advertised as restored looked as if they were just semi-cleaned up, and painted, not even bothering to keep paint off the tires, etc. That makes me wonder if anything was done to the engine, trans, etc. That's a far cry from a real "total restoration". For now, I have to do this stuff just because I enjoy it, and try to make a living doing something else. So, I guess I've not been much help, but that's my take on this business.
