Roger; didn't mean to disparage your capabilities, and you're right; hauling a tractor is not rocket science. I'm not knocking 'book learning'; there are some outstanding posts below and in the archives. BUT, I would not encourage anyone to begin their hauling career on a 500 mile trip with an unknown tractor and trailer. I've spent 50 years operating and hauling farm and construction equipment and hauling livestock (that's a whole 'nother subject). If you're on the road long enough, you'll eventually find yourself in a situation where all the 'book learning' in the world will not help you; just your experience. I would encourage you or anyone in your situation to begin by helping a friend load and haul and observing him and by making some short trips (on less-traveled) roads. Luck to you!!!
