If I had to get a different engine I'd get a B engine. The Mazda is here collecting dust and rust. I'd make a vacumm advance dist. fit it along with a carb'ed manifold. The biggest thing that worries me is the mounting with that belt shrouding up front, course I haven't really looked at it yet. A long runner intake should bring up the torque a bit and it's already got a "header" looking exhaust. Have to mill off the "Mazda" logo on the valve cover. Maybe make the cam sprockets adjustable to tune the power a touch.
