i would buy one from a dealer also. i have a rear engine thats 13 yrs old and only rplaced the clutch once. i mowed about 6 acres a month w/ it for many years and its still going strong. my dad bought a new rear eng 3 yrs ago. he likes it but the 10hp motor slung a rod after the second year. briggs had a recall on those motors so he got a new 12.5hp to replace it. i'm glad he bought it from the dealer now. my neighbor has 2 old ones. we use to play w/ them and sometimes on the ditches we would flip them. this was hard to do and did only when playing. we turn em back over hop on and finish mowing. i've just got finished cutting a 4' tall overgrown pasture last weekend. thats alot of abuse but it took it well.
