I have an 8N that I recently replaced the head gasket & had the head surfaced. After putting everything back together, the tractor will not run for more than 5 seconds. Once it starts to sputter, I can't do anything to keep it running. A co-worker had a similar problem on an old truck with a 6-volt system. He said that if he hit the starter again as it was dying, it would fire back up. He replaced the battery and everything worked fine. I would like to know if this sounds reasonable. I don't want to wreck my starter before trying the same thing. Any suggestions??
