Hi, Ray, not knowing all the ins and outs of the situation, kinda hard to say what to do......but on the surface, I think I would go with your suggestion......this kid is at the crossroads, wich way he goes from here could depend entirely on the handling of the problem. Realy don't see much sense in involving the law, at this point, as this will probably turn him down the wrong road, you stand a good chance of making one heck of a difference in his life, one way or the other.....leave a note on the ATV, tell him you want to talk with him, and maybe you can "cut a deal", maybe something like letting him ride his ATV on your property on designated trails, IF he will "look after" things while you are away. Have him help out a bit, for the priviledge. One of two things with him storing the machine under the bridge.....does his father not want it home? Or, does he not want him to have it? On the darker side, is it "hot"? If the lad is not doing any real harm by riding on your land, turn it around so it will do some good, for both of you. like I say....how do I know???? Have a gooder, R.E.L.
