There's a link labeled "Serial Numbers" on the left side of this page that will help with that part of your question. If you don't find your number under A, AV, B, BN check the Super As. Guy Fay's data book on the Farmall letter series tractors is a good source for options, attachments, etc. As far as the Farmall/International, that was not a change. The Farmall As and the International As were different machines. Farmall serial numbers started with FA, Int'ls with IA, but the number part is always good for the year, regardless of the prefix. Not a rule but the general design differences were for different ultimate uses. The Farmall was a farmer's tractor. The International was for "industrial" use. In quotes because industrial included sales to counties, towns and so on for mowing roads and ditches. The most obvious visual difference was in the front axles (the Int'l was heavier), and the uses were not exclusive. Another of Guy Fay's books, the Originality Guide for the letter series, contains an IH photo of an International doing field work. Hope this answers your questions. No real hope of injecting clarity into such a murky distinction!
