I have read the posts so far, and agree with them in general. I do think a tractor in the 40-45 hp range is a little big for the acreage you are talking. Nothing wrong with them, infact a Allis Chalmers WD is what I am working on and I own 7 acres of woods. But I also own a AC model C with my brother which we use for snowplowing, wood gathering, etc, and it is a lot easier to manuver around than a larger tractor. If I was you I would stick to the AC model B, C, CA size or the Farmall C range of tractor, 20 to 25 hp, tractor weight of about 2500 lbs. This size will have pleanty of power and be handier than a larger one. As for stability, just keep the rear wheels set sort of on the wide side and be carefull and you will have no trouble unless you have very steep hills and try to go across them, not up and down. And while we are in this, Always, but Always keep the tractor in gear when going up and down hills, this will control your speed and not let the tractor get away from you. Good luck and keep asking questions here, and check out some of the specific tractor discussion boards to get details on the different colors. Tom
