Well Rick, you found your way here so you're definately on the right track. Welcome. On five acres you wont need a heck of a lot of tractor so I'd try to find something under 25-30 hp if I was you. The Allis Chalmers B or C's would probably be a good place to start. As far as the narrow front vs. wide front issue goes the narrow front (row crop) usually stands a little taller than the wide front and the higher the center of gravity the tippier they'll be. Other than that one is as good as another for the most part. One thing I would recommend that you give some thought to is getting a tractor with 3 point hitch. There are literally hundreds of attachments and implements you can hook to a 3 point that you can't with a solid drawbar tractor. Look at some of the little Ford Ns or Fergusons. They're easy to find parts for and amazingly versatile. Good luck
