I don't use any particular order when adjusting the valves. You just want to be sure that the valve is closed when it's adjusted. When you think they're all adjusted, recheck them all a couple times to make sure none are too loose. Turn the engine half a turn between checks. The points should be set at .013 inches. The magneto impulse should trip when the front piston reaches TDC at the end of the compression stroke. The magneto can be rotated slightly to achieve this if the gears are properly mated. Right after the impulse click, the rotor should be pointed to the #1 post in the distributor cap. The small gears in the magneto can be mated to do this. I disable the magneto by grounding the terminal when doing this to prevent getting any undesireable shocks.
