Tractor fatality -- be careful!

Lost a neighbor Saturday. Bill was caretaker for an old fellow has about 300 acres, mostly woods. Bill was out cutting/cleaning up blowdowns and was late coming in, and his wife called a friend, who went back and found him. Near as it can be pieced together, he got his saw stuck in the stump (he had taken the engine off the bar) and then tried to spring the gap open by pushing the loader on the tractor (Ford *N) against the tree. Looks from Bill's injuries and the bent steering wheel like the tree gave first and kicked back instead of leaning forward. They found Bill about ten teet from the tree. The tractor ran on until the bucket fetched up on another tree. It was still running, had busted the chains and was dug down to the axle. This isn't a case of tying on wrong.It's a case of something you might get away with a hundered times, but the equipment doesn't provide the protection from that one in a hundred chance. The cage on a skidder might have saved him. Work safe, all!
