Hi Joe, There certainly is nothing wrong with your 3.5 lb/gal but I do think it is more than probably needed. The manual for my AC-B indicates that a 15% solution of CaCl with water is recommended. The following is quoted from that manual: "This mixture will form a slush at 10 deg (F) above zero, but will not freeze solid at 20 deg (F) below zero. No harm will be done to the tires at even colder temperatures." This 15% solution is about 2 lb calcium (77-80% flake) per gallon of water.
